The hotel is on a major street next to the Alster pond. It is a short 10 to 15 minute walk from the main train station. The front desk always had a friendly knowledgeable person, who spoke several languages and had information on the local bars, shopping and restaurants, and even know about the local transportation. There were umbrellas on hand for loan in case the weather turned wet, which it did during my visit. The room was a large penthouse suite that I reserved on a whim due to a good deal offered on the price and it was large, roomy with a huge restroom, with a tub, and a dining area and living room with a chimney and ceiling to floor windows for a fantastic view of the city. The minibar fridge was fully stocked with a variety of beers, wine, soft drinks and numerous snacks, all free. Also included were a huge selection of coffee and tea. The shampoo, soap and lotion were of excellent quality. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bedroom had a large amount of closet space. There was a deck outside of the sliding glass window, but it joined with the deck of the adjacent room, which also had wall to ceiling windows. There are numerous bars, restaurants and shopping areas within a minute or two walk. There is an underground metro station just a 2 to 3 minute walk from the front door. There is an attached restaurant and a bar in the lobby with numerous couches and seats.

Nice hotel at a very convenient location just a few steps from Stephanplatz subway stop and around the corner from Collonaden pedestrian street with many restaurants, bakeries and cafés. The center of the city (Rathaus) is an easy 10 minutes walk. Very good breakfast, with vegetarian and vegan options, served in a double space where seating is always available. Comfortable bed, room of good enough size. Everything was spotless and it was cleaned daily. The kettle and various kinds of tea came handy. The 3 day card for subway and buses in the city was a nice touch and very useful. A young gentleman at the reception desk was very polite and willingly accommodated my request for a room change; he actually took me to see different rooms and choose for myself. I am very sorry I did not keep his name. I would happily stay in the Baseler Hof again and I have already recommended it to friends visiting the city.

Hotel location is great! Very walkable to shops, restaurants, cafes, parks, and public transportation. The hotel is not modernized completely so still has old European charm. Hotel staff was very nice and responsive. It was nice to receive a free ticket for 3-day use of public transport. Also, I came early for the check-in, hotel was able to hold my bags while I walked around the neighborhood to wait for the proper check-in time. The hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable. The room was a good size for one person, two people it was a bit tighter. Bathroom was good, also small, but the water pressure was nice. The room also provided a fridge and kettle with tea. Wi-Fi was good.

The location was perfect for the opera and easy walking to main attractions, plus we were given a free pass to use on all public transport during our stay. The staff were super-helpful and friendly: the reception staff gave us excellent advice about what to see in the city and speak fluent Engish. Reception is in a welcoming lounge, with plenty of seating, a log fire and bar. The buffet breakfast is not to be missed: a superb range on offer, plus excellent coffee and great service! Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and we enjoyed our post-opera visit to the Weinkeller. All in all, this hotel couldn't have been better for us and we were really well looked after.

Location was excellent. We did not eat in the hotel. The bar area was good. Batman was friendly and it stayed open later than most places in the area which we found everywhere closed very early in 10.30ish. The room wasn't large but was very adequate with good storage, drawers wardrobes, hanging hooks. Plenty of plug sockets. Hairdryer in bathroom which had shower and bath. Very clean with room service every day. Extra pillows were provided on request.
